The Show!
Well chuffed with this video of our show by ‘Illamasqua’ really shows all the detail that went into the costumes, make-up and set. Mine is featured in the end scene and is a colourful shirt and trousers, sadly no footage of my cage! http://myhairdressers.com/news/hairdressing-training-courses-london-college-fashion-040511.html

Fairy tale marriage?
Interviewer: Was your wedding day a fairy tale?
Male respondent: The actual wedding day not so much, but the weeks that followed, definitely. I soon realised I married a witch.

Well that was different..
I went to see a performative piece called ‘Beast’ by theatre company Shunt last night, which involved me being fed food via a syringe while wearing an oxygen mask… the piece was great! it was about the violent side of human nature and our relationship to food, the performance focused on three stages, Cannibalism, ‘refined’ dining in the Victorian era and a futuristic...

I need to practise my drawing!
I’ve got into a really confined style and I need to break the mould a bit and experiement. Do have a few issues with drawing in that I never studied art at gcse or a level so i don’t actually have any drawing knowledge apart from copying my dad when i was a kid. This always put me in a tissy over life drawing when they gave me a big blank page, some oil pastels and paint and said draw...

Progression
It’s been two months since I updated! Clearly not cut out to be a blogger. Back at uni, third and final year! Already experiencing a huge learning curve, we had a piece of text (huge novel) Gormenghast to read over summer for our next project. I read the first in the triliogy to gear up for Gormenghast, I then read Gormenghast. Was feeling pretty proud of myself, finished both books knew...

Finished Gormenghast a few days ago
and watched the BBC mini series adaption made in 2000 of both books which was really interesting, I mainly watched it to see how they had interpreted it and how they condensed the storyline and what plot points they kept. I enjoyed Jonathan Rhys Myers as Steerpike :) even if he is a little bit wrong. In addition to this I’ve been thinking of ideas for my final major project disseration...

Think I am an official geek now.
Just for photo evidence that my power ranger costume did exist as I realise I haven’t put any finished photos of it up, managed to find one I looked reasonably sober in :) me in the DeLorean :)

i love my life
This picture pretty much sums up the scale of epicness of last nights sci-fi party. And yes you are looking at a complete fully customised DeLorean and Doc in the front drive of my friends house :) no words can describe the moment when it pulled up, theme music blaring and doc and 1988 marty got out of the car, smoke billowing, lights flashing. night made. best party ever.

I am also
living the dream, making a pink power rangers costume for the sci-fi themed legendry party my friend hosts every year! Ingredients include a beat up pink power ranger toy - one of many from when i was 5 (with a missing leg) for accurate recreating. i know these are just t-shirts, but i can do wonders!! and im not making a leoatard unless my friends would like to see me sweat it out in the...

Finished Titus Groan. Starting Gormenghast. Only ideas so far; Steerpike should be played by this man - Jamie Campbell Bower (with Ginney Weasley!!!! they’re dating/engaged. thats lovely :) back on track, he’s definately a better looking version of steerpike and doesn’t have the bony high shoulders but to me this definately is Steerpike. I am fascinated by the relationship...

Well true to my uni’s form I still haven’t recieved professional photo’s of my costume because baboons could run the course better. In the mean time i’m going to use my time efficiently over summer and blog you crazy :) My third term/second year project was the film re-make of ‘Nosferatu’ a film released in 1922 and was basically a rip-off of Bram...

Oh dear
I’m terrible at blogging! Since I last updated…in november! I’ve been on a work experience placement at The English National Opera working in the tailoring men’s department for eight weeks. It was an absoultely amazing experience and I learnt a hell of a lot of stuff! I worked with the team to assemble various garments, trousers, waistcoats, cravats and coats that were...

Finalised piece!
A month later here it is! The coat isn’t finished, althought technically it wasn’t in our brief to make one I felt it completed the look, and plan to finish it in my christmas holidays along with that huge tail you saw in the design earlier - which will, after much researching, be constructed from gathered layers of netting and fur onto a lycra tube. I rented the hat,...

Experimentation.
I still cannot decide between the peacock and fox design, and therefore began carrying out samples to see if that would help me come to a decision. Below is my trail for the fox’s tail: It’s made from strips of cotton, and would be attatched to a chicken wire frame, however this is a very time consuming process and would not be as quick as the feathers. In addition this is a...

University Project
I have been so busy working I haven’t had time to update! My current design and realisation project is Christopher Hampton’s adaption of ‘Les Liasons Dangereuse’, we were told to keep it period correct, but have a concept and for it to be suitable for film. Meaning very high detail. After extensive character breakdowns I began to envison my characters as their animal...
